Blacksteel pans are treated with nitride, after which they are heated up in the oven using nitrogen dioxide, causing for the black oxide layer to form. The Blacksteel pans are also pre-seasoned with vegetable oil, which further improves the corrosion resistance of the pans.
The pans’ non-stick qualities only get better over time with use. The 3 mm thick body won’t bend in even the toughest use. The pans are made to withstand high temperatures and they are suitable on all stoves, oven, grill and even open fire. You can also use stainless steel utensils with the pan! Psst! The look of the pan will change in use. This is normal and the patina will improve the frying result over time with each use creating natural non-stick qualities on the pan. Seasoning is not required compared to other carbon steel pans.
