Velvety Panna Cotta with strawberry sauce

Panna cotta is an Italian classic that you can find in almost any authentic Italian restaurant. I’ve been in love with its velvety texture and sweetness since I first tasted it, but surprisingly this is the first time I tried making it myself and it exceeded my expectations, so I wanted to share the recipe with you! This is a quick recipe that requires almost no prep time, just a little patience during the cooling process!

RECIPE

5-7 portions

2 gelatin sheets
1 1/2 dl of milk
4 dl of whipping cream
1 dl of sugar
1 tbsp of vanilla essence
You can add more vanilla essence to taste!

Strawberry sauce
2 dl of strawberries
3/4 dl of sugar

Immerse the gelatine sheets in cold water to soften. In a saucepan, add the milk, half the cream, vanilla extract and sugar. Allow the mixture to heat slowly for 4-6 minutes, but do not bring to boil. Squeeze the excess water out of the gelatine leaves. Dissolve them in the hot cream mixture and stir. Pour in the rest of the cream and continue stirring. Pour into small dessert bowls or cups. Cover the cups with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator to set for at least 5 hours.

Place the strawberries in the baking dish, add the sugar and stir. Place in a 150°C oven for about 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and puree with a fork or a hand blender if you want a smoother consistency. Wait for the sauce to cool before putting it on top of the panna cotta.

Tip: as a finishing touch add edible flowers on top!

Happy baking moments!
